Arturo Silva

Arturo Silva was born in the United States, spent the 1980s and 1990s in Tokyo – as he says, "18 years of living in the city, of tramping all over the place, doing my research, . . . . Walking, talking, reading, exploring, meeting people, looking everywhere, dreaming the city – just like my characters."

Arturo now lives in Vienna, Austria, where he teaches and writes about film. He is author of Philosophy of the Shirt (1986) and editor of The Donald Richie Reader (2001).
