Stone Bridge Cafe: Assorted Photographs from Japan

Stone Bridge Cafe is a bi-weekly online series from Stone Bridge Press devoted to bringing readers short stories, poems, non-fiction pieces, photographs, and artwork from and/or about East Asia. For submission guidelines and info, follow the link at the bottom of this post.

This week we’re serving up a sundry collection of photographs by Enrico Cremonini, whose striking photos capture individuals contextualized by the cultures they inhabit, in this case Japan. Viewing the same people through multiple lenses, these photos capture how the subjects, and the places they represent, look in different contexts, angles and light.

“This fascinates me, as I can explore different shades of the world,” Enrico says. “I love taking photos of the places I visit, but it’s the people, their faces, their expressions and their way of life that attracts me the most. Humans are the real reasons that drive me to travel."

Residing in Bologna, Italy, Enrico Cremonini took his first reflex shot in 2010 during a trip to Africa – and hasn’t stopped since. He’s always been a curious traveller, feeling the need to see and explore different ways of life. This approach is reflected in his photography, where

he captures people’s stories with images. To view his full collection of photos from around

the world, visit his Flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/people/enricodot/
